Perl API Update for Week of March 1, 2010

Posted in

All,

I'll be committing to SVN a new update to the perl API and the perl Slim UI this week. It will allow direct use of the new bi-directional serial protocol via the perl API and Slim, and all new features, to allow for full testing of the 0.82 features. Once these have been fully exercised, and a couple of new features have been added to the engine to support the requests currently in queue, I'll put it up to a vote by everyone who is currently using 0.82 as to whether or not it should go production. Then, we'll update the docs (including easy-to-read protocol docs =), and mark all the new versions of software for release!

I'll add a post shortly that describes all changes thus far to the 0.82 engine in the Engine forum.

But, those guys currently working w/ 0.82, keep an eye for SVN updates, I'm hoping to make one tonight, or tomorrow night at the latest (was working quite late last night on getting Slim and TimeLapse.pm matching 0.82, it's almost there).

I installed the new versions

I installed the new versions of the API, Slim and the engine. I have not encountered any bugs. I love the new status command. My test setup is using three engines (lying freely on my desk). Everything is working fine including the home command.

Is it possible that you provide an updated version of the electronics schematics that you are using? Including the motor sleep wire?

I will have a new one soon -

I will have a new one soon - it's going to be MUCH more comprehensive than the existing one. I'm afraid that it'll be a few weeks though.

Just run PIN12 on the arduino to the SLEEP pin on the ED. Mind you, only V4 of the easydriver has SLEEP broken out, V3 does not. I can look later where to cut on the V3 to make the connection, but it will likely require non-reversible change to the board =)
