I'm attempting to build an arduino based control into my timelapse rig, and have begun purchasing components for the project. I'm stuck on two items, and am a newbie when it comes to electronics so could use some advice. I can get 510ohm resistors, but the hardware page doesn't suggest what power rating to use.
The other problem is the diodes. I am in the UK and am struggling to source some NTE5097A diodes. I've not been able to find an alternative with the same ratings and I dont know how close to that specification i need to get, or if it needs to be exactly the same.
any advice would be very much apreciated.

for the Resistors, 1/4 Watt should be sufficient, 1/8th will work too.
With the diodes you just need to make sure the voltage drop is not too much, or the step/dir signals won't come through correctly. It's good practice to put diodes in the step/dir lines for protection, but my rig runs for over a year now without (I know, it's not supposed to be that way, but it works....)

Just skip the diodes. They are a "good idea" that can cause a lot of problems. Most of us don't use them as they can interfere with communication. In fact, that it still shows the image there with the diodes means I've been remiss and haven't replaced the schematic with the newer one: http://openmoco.org/node/133
