how can i add a joystick in mx2 dolly shield for continuous motion,because i need a smooth ramping for video, the mx2 ramping feature works in Timelapse mode,but not gd in Continuous mode,its big jump,
i need to add a joystick and add a code to mx2
how can i do this,,,,pls help
Well, the joystick won't
Well, the joystick won't change anything about how the ramping works =) It wasn't really designed for live video, which is why you get the not-so-smooth motions, b/c you're in a range that the PWM driver won't safely move the motor.
Joystick is just an input, it doesn't change how the motor runs. If you want smoother transitions, you'll need a faster motor, and stay within the PWM range.
Starting point: (menu) Axis x -> Slow Mode IPM
This sets the minimum speed for PWM control on the motor (PWM is smoother than the slow motion [pulse] mode).
If you set this a very low value (start with zero), it will pretty much always use the smooth PWM control. However, the supplied motor will not move any reasonable load at a rate under 19IPM. You'll have to do some experimenting. Your idea to use a joystick requires a LOT of changes, and it's a lot more than just scrounging up a joystick - you'll need to create additional circuitry, etc.

... but it's worth noting that if you -actually, really- want joystick control, here's a starting point:
Use your joystick to feed a pulse generator (i.e. a joystick is really two potentiometers, you can use the output of one of the potentiometers as a variable resistor feed to a 555 timer to adjust the rate of pulses sent by the 555) - and then feed the pulse generator (5V TTL level!) to one of the Alt inputs on the MX2. Then, modify the MX2 code to "chase" the Alt input so that it moves the motor for a fraction of a second every time a pulse transition happens.
