Interfacing Merlin motor head

Hi,

i´m really new at timelapsed shooting. I think of buying this motor head:

It costs round about $ 150.

I already own an arduino duemilanove, i played with it some time ago.
Is the any way o interface the Merlin motor head?

I have a Merlin head sitting here waiting to be hacked, but I'm planning on removing the electronics entirely and replacing with an arduino and DC motor driver (the dollyshield you see on here). I know others have interfaced with the Meade heads by simply sending the expected serial protocol. However, I don't know if the Merlin heads have a documented protocol?
