I've been in touch with dynamic perception before and think what is happening here is really great! I starting building a motion system a while ago and the resources here are helping me take the control aspect to a whole exciting new level. So many of the things I was trying to figure out on my own are already available and so well thought out.
I also posted a little note attached to the Mac Installation article to hopefully help others with similar install issues. There were only a few stumbling blocks to get around and hope someone else can make use of that.
I'm just upgrading the belt drive system on my slider and will post again in the future if I find anything interesting during that build.
I'm really looking forward to an MX2 kit or something similar so I can run the stepper motor system without a laptop attached (though it's running great as it is right now...just a little cumbersome).

Now, you know the MX2 doesn't run steppers, right? It can, however, be used as an interface to another arduino running the timelapse engine, but would require some software written to do that.

Sorry for the confusion there with the late night posting :P I meant to write that I'm looking forward to something similar to the MX2 kit for stepper motors (instead of DC motors) at some point in the future. I can hope :)

We're already pretty far along in development of a new 4-axis driver, that has a nice SPI interface. It may, ultimately, incorporate the uC, but even if it doesn't, it greatly improves the ability to add a UI and etc. to the arduino by only requiring 4 pins to completely control all four motors.
I don't expect it'll make much more progress before the MX2 or dolly come to market (because the schedule is full!), but it will shortly after =)
