Slider motorized 3-axis

Hi! I collect information to build a motorized slider that works with the Merlin powered head and I think this site is the one I was looking for.

That is a slider that would allow me to make time lapse and, if possible, of traveling in simultaneous movement in three axes. There is something similar like Motiontimer.

My doubts:

1 - Is there a software that can track and the head simultaneously Merlin?
2 - I would use a stepper motor to the slider and the Merlin engines of the head is apparently a geared CC
3 - Do I prefer the Timelapse Engine or Engine Dolly MX2 or something else altogether?

For the Merlin head, you

For the Merlin head, you don't concern yourself with the motors, because you speak its protocol and it takes care of the motors. =)

If you're ok with a DC-motor axis for the dolly, then the MX2. It can control the Merlin and the Dolly simultaneously - but you won't have "stepper accuracy" on the Dolly.

I'm guessing that Motiontimer has re-written all of their code to not use the Timelapse engine or Slim anymore? They no longer reference this site, but their first version was based on the TLE. If they no longer open-source their code, or provide it under GPL, I'd be wary.

The TLE would only be useful if you wanted to integrate the Merlin library (hosted here) yourself, or if Motiontimer contributed back their changes to the TLE.

I think mounting the slider with a stepper motor, as a matter of accuracy and repeatability.
I read somewhere (I can not find the page) there was practicality drawbacks regarding the assembly of the head with the Merlin MX2. I'm talking about problem of implementation to start using it and something you could not do with it. (Unfortunately, I too fly over the article to be more precise). It's true ?
In any case I will look a little closer to the MX2 and Timelapse Engine (TLE?)
