The last week I've been working on my traveler dolly. It must bee light enough to take it on my travels. After reading a lot of stuff on this and other sites I designed my version. Bought the motors at Servocity and the pulleys and belt at Maedler.

There is no bearing in the pulley, just a 6mm allen bolt with a little oil. It runs smooth.
Controlling the motor is the second part of this project. I was planning to buy the MX2 dolly engine (the price just went up) but now I am looking at other controllers. Perhaps the ones that Servocity offer. Still looking for one wich is programmable and has a joy-stick (much like the ORACLE Control System by Kessler).

I'm researching controller options as well. My rig is also based on the Igus slider and have purchased similar pulley components. I like Kessler's solution for its mix of "real-time" input and programmability but haven't figured out how to duplicate its functionality yet. The MX2 is great but only useful for TL use. But according to Jay of Dynamic Perceptions, they're working on something far more elaborate. Please keep us posted on your progress- I'll be curious to see what you come up with!

I am also looking for a combination of the MX2 with a joy-stick. Servocity will be selling joy-sticks in the near future. It must be possible to incorporate the stick in the MX2 for realtime filming.
Servocity also sells the precision digital speed control. In combination with the dial control there should be enough flexibility to use it for both time lapse and real time. The dials also makes it possible to ramp.
